The Ontario Security Guard Test

The Ontario Security Guard Test is a 60-question multiple-choice exam that is mandatory for anyone who wishes to obtain a security guard licence and/or work as a private investigator in Ontario.

Candidates are given 75 minutes to complete the exam, which consists of 60 multiple-choice questions. Emond’s 60-question practice tests are designed to help students write and pass the provincially-mandated Ontario Security Guard Test. Realistic and up-to-date practice questions will help you test your knowledge and improve your exam-writing strategy before the test.

Price $30 + tax each | $50 + tax for exam bundle (includes both exams)
Format Each online multiple-choice exam consists of 60 substantive questions.
Timer The timer counts upward from the time that you begin an exam. The timer can be paused and your progress will be saved when you exit, so you may resume the exam at a future date. For a realistic exam simulation, you should aim to complete the practice exam in 75 minutes.
Content Questions have been formulated to evaluate a Candidate’s knowledge, understanding, and application of the required competencies that will be tested on the Security Guard Test. The structure and content of the questions are designed to mimic the test, with multiple choice questions, many of them scenario-based.
Exam Review Upon exam submission, you will be presented with your overall score. You can review each exam question to see the answer you selected, the correct answer, and an explanation that includes references to source material.
Access Period Access to the practice exams expire every six months on set dates: January 31st and July 31st, each year. You may attempt the practice exam up to four times before expiry. Questions remain the same on all four attempts.
